The breakup of the famous couple, Jon and Kate Gosselin has struck media sources everywhere. TLC announced on September 29 that the future of "Jon and Kate Plus 8" is now on the shoulders of just Kate. The show will be relaunched as "Kate Plus 8" and will feature Kate's life as a single mother. This story is not only featured on entertainment news sites such as E! News, but also on prominent news coverage sites such as msnbc, CNN*, LA Times, ABCNews, and CBSNews.
After viewing the different stories from the above sites, which story was the most entertaining? Which one carried the most accurate information? Which story had the best presentation? Was there one news site that seemed to be more biased than the rest? Is there even a difference in the way that the same story is being presented?
*On the CNN website, click on Entertainment on the left side of the page and the video should be on the top row under the title, "Jon Fired From 'Kate Plus 8'."

I thought that CNN did the best job is portraying this story. They analyzed the story and exposed the true reality of this "reality show." CNN provided both a text and video version of the story for readers to view. On the video story they presented the position that TLC had and also added their own commentary that I feel coincides with my own personal beliefs on the subject.
I think that the website E! News could have been a good source for the story but it made Kate the obvious victim and didn't give Jon the time of day, save the short reference to his side of the story at the bottom of the article. The story was well presented with pictures and a short story, contained legitimate information, and had both video and text for readers to enjoy. If E! News rid the article of the bias, I think they would have a strong story. But after all, they are an entertainment news site and their job is present stories in an appealing manner; even if that means giving only one side of the issue.
Many of the stories that were covered contained a lot of bias. A lot portrayed Kate as the victim and ignored Jon. I thought CNN did a very good job but it was kind of boring. E!News did a good job but yet again many sources of bias and informality. I thought CBSNews did the best job of making it interesting while keeping the sense of "real" news.
Guess what! Tonight Larry King from Larry King Live, is going to host Jon Gosselin. It will be interesting to see how this side of the story will play into the whole story
I think that both parents are at fault, but it's too bad that Kate has always been portrayed as the "hero" - Jon deserves respect too!
I think that each of the news sources had strengths and weaknesses. Some portrayed Jon as a Victim, others as a total scoundrel. Also some news sources have been affected by Kate's motherly attitude of not even speaking of such a taboo subject, just as if she were talking to her 8 kids.
